With its proximity to Dublin, Nursing Home fees in Wicklow are expensive for potential residents with fees ranging from €1,000 to €1,500 per week if paid for privately. Thankfully the Nursing Home Support Scheme/Fair Deal is designed to ensure that anyone living in Ireland who needs long term care can avail of it. This is particularly helpful to potential applicants in Wicklow where under the Fair Deal applicants pay a reduced rate due to the negotiation power of the HSE who subsidise up to 95% of all Nursing Home residents. Fair Deal rates range from €915 to €1,200 per week but applicants for the Fair Deal scheme rarely have to pay anything close to this amount as the HSE subsides the fees.

Applicants are expected to contribute towards their cost of care under the Fair Deal/Nursing Home Support Scheme with levels set at 80% of income for single persons and 40% for couples and an asset contribution of 7.5% for single persons and 3.75% for couples.

Tom is exceptional. His calm, reassuring expertise and ability cuts through the mind numbing complexity of the Fair Deal and supports when you are making difficult & heart-breaking decisions. Our Dad had died unexpectedly just days after our mother had transferred in an emergency situation into full-time care. Thus, the original Fair Deal application was null & void.
